🎮 Play Hard Head Online (Arcade)

Hard Head is a famously bizarre 2D side-scrolling platformer released by SunA Electronics in 1988 for arcades. Blending mechanics from classics like Super Mario Bros. and Bubble Bobble, the game stars a pair of large-headed characters on a surreal quest to rescue their girlfriend. The result is a delightfully strange arcade experience filled with odd enemies, hidden items, and surprisingly tight platforming.

How to Play

You navigate through levels using a bubble gun to entrap bizarre enemies—ranging from snails to scissors—before jumping on them to knock them off the screen. True to your character’s name, you can also use your powerful head or a mallet to smash blocks and clear paths, ultimately trying to reach the end of each stage to kick a soccer ball into a goal. In the browser, the default arcade controls are mapped to the Arrow Keys to move, Z and X for your jump and action buttons, and Shift and Enter to insert a coin and start.

Tips

• Enemies trapped in bubbles will eventually break free. Make sure to jump on them quickly to permanently remove them from the screen.
• Consistently hit blocks with your head or a mallet; they frequently contain valuable power-ups, weapons, or hidden items essential for surviving later stages.
