Developed by LucasArts and released in 1993, Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a cult-classic run-and-gun shooter for the SNES. Playing as teenagers Zeke or Julie, you must navigate a suburban nightmare inspired by classic B-movie horror tropes, battling an endless array of vampires, martians, and werewolves to rescue your oblivious neighbours.
How to Play
Your objective in each level is to locate and rescue all surviving neighbors before they are eliminated by monsters. Once all neighbors on a stage are saved, a door opens to the next area. Keep in mind that your total neighbor count carries over between levels; if you run out of neighbors to save, it is game over.
- D-pad (Arrow Keys): Move your character.
- Y Button (A Key): Fire your equipped weapon.
- B Button (Z Key): Use your selected special item.
- X / A Buttons (S / X Keys): Cycle through your available weapons and items.
- Start (Enter): Pause the game and view the map.
Tips
- Save the Weed Whacker: Don’t waste the weed whacker on basic zombies. Save it to quickly mow down fast-moving chainsaw maniacs or cut through hedge mazes.
- Watch the Radar: Your radar is essential for locating neighbors quickly. Prioritize finding them as soon as a level starts, because monsters will actively hunt them down.
- Drink the Monster Potion: The purple monster potion temporarily transforms you into an invincible, wall-smashing brute. This is perfect for taking down tough bosses like the giant demonic baby or breaking through walls to create shortcuts.
