Zebco Fishing! is an officially licensed fishing simulation developed by Vicarious Visions and released for the Game Boy Color in 1999. Originally notable for its cartridge’s built-in rumble feature, the game lets you hit the water at Chestnut Lake or Drake Lake to track down the legendary 21-pound “Lochness Bass”. It includes standard tournament play alongside a unique “Blackjack” mode where the goal is to catch exactly 21 pounds of fish without going over.
How to Play
Your objective is to locate fish, cast your line, and successfully reel them in without letting your line snap. In the browser, the standard Game Boy Color controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to steer your boat and aim your cast, press Z and X (mapping to A and B) to cast and reel, and use Enter and Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
- Pay close attention to line tension while reeling in a catch; if you reel constantly while a fish fights, your line will snap.
- In Blackjack mode, carefully track your total catch weight. It is often safer to stop early than risk hooking a fish that pushes you over the 21-pound limit.
