Game description:

Released for the NES in 1993, WWF King of the Ring brings high-impact professional wrestling to the 8-bit era. You step into the squared circle as icons like Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, and The Undertaker. Beyond standard singles and tag team exhibitions, this arcade-style grappler features its namesake tournament and a unique mode allowing you to build a custom wrestler with personalized stats.

How to Play

The objective is to wear down your opponent’s health meter and secure a three-count pinfall. On the NES, use the D-pad (Arrow Keys in your browser) to move around the ring. Press A (X) to strike and B (Z) to run the ropes. When you tie up in a grapple, rapidly mash the action buttons along with a direction to overpower your opponent and execute heavy slams and suplexes. Press Start (Enter) to pause and Select (Shift) to toggle options.

Tips

  • Stamina management is key; avoid running aimlessly, as getting tired makes you much easier to grapple and throw.
  • When building a custom wrestler, balancing speed and strength is generally more effective than maxing out a single attribute.
  • Tossing your opponent out of the ring gives you a moment to recover, but keep an eye on the referee’s 10-count to avoid losing by count-out.
