Game description:

Originally released in 1992 and ported to the SNES in 1994, Wolfenstein 3D is a classic first-person shooter that places you in the boots of Allied spy William “B.J.” Blazkowicz. Tasked with escaping the labyrinthine castle, you must battle your way through floors of enemy soldiers and mutants. This SNES version is notable for its alterations from the PC original, featuring a built-in automap and censorship changes mandated by Nintendo, such as replacing guard dogs with giant mutant rats.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate through each maze-like level, defeat enemies, and find the elevator to the next floor. Keep an eye on your health and ammo, and search for food or medkits to stay alive. Use your arrow keys to move and turn. The standard SNES buttons (typically mapped to Z, X, A, and S on your keyboard) allow you to shoot your weapon, open doors, and strafe. Press Shift or Enter to access the in-game automap to help you navigate.

Gameplay Tips

  • Check walls for secrets: Press the interact button against suspicious walls to reveal hidden rooms filled with treasure, health, and ammo.
  • Master the strafe: Strafing allows you to pop out from behind corners, fire a few shots, and retreat before enemies can return fire.
  • Lure enemies through doors: Instead of charging into a crowded room, open the door and wait for enemies to funnel through, allowing you to pick them off safely.
