Game description:

Wild Guns (Japan) is a fast-paced space-western shooting gallery game released for the SNES in 1994. Playing as either the bounty hunter Clint or the vengeful Annie, you must blast your way through armies of robotic outlaws and towering mechanical bosses. The game masterfully blends classic arcade gallery shooting with run-and-gun movement, requiring you to simultaneously aim your reticle and dodge incoming fire.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive each stage by wiping out enemy waves and defeating the boss at the end. Using standard SNES controls (typically mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys along with Z, X, A, and S):

  • Movement and Aiming (D-Pad): Moves both your character and the crosshair.
  • Shoot: Hold the button to lock your character in place, allowing you to freely sweep the crosshair across the screen.
  • Lasso: Tap the shoot button quickly to throw your lasso and temporarily freeze enemies.
  • Jump: Jump to avoid ground attacks; tap twice to double jump.
  • Dodge Roll: Press the jump button while holding the shoot button to perform a quick, evasive dive.
  • Bomb: Unleash a screen-clearing attack when surrounded.

Tips

  • Master the Dodge: The evasive roll is crucial. It gives you a brief window of invincibility, allowing you to dive straight through incoming bullets when you are cornered.
  • Use the Lasso on Heavy Enemies: Throwing your lasso at large enemies or drones freezes them, making it much easier to focus your fire without getting overwhelmed.
  • Shoot Down Bullets: You can shoot enemy dynamite and certain projectiles out of the air. Keep an eye out for glowing pink bullets, which can be destroyed.
