As a rookie agent for the ACME Detective Agency, your objective is to track down the infamous master thief Carmen Sandiego and her V.I.L.E. henchmen across the globe. You will visit famous cities, question witnesses, and piece together geographical and historical clues to identify suspects and recover stolen national treasures.
How to Play
Use the on-screen menus to investigate locations, speak to witnesses, and gather information about the thief’s whereabouts and physical traits. Once you have enough identifying details, use the Crime Computer to issue an arrest warrant. You must capture the suspect before the deadline expires.
Controls: Use the Arrow Keys to navigate the menus, Z and X (Master System buttons 1 and 2) to select options and interact, and Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Always secure an arrest warrant before confronting the suspect. Even if you find the right person, you cannot legally arrest them without a warrant!
- Pay close attention to the suspect’s gender, hair color, eye color, and hobbies. Enter these into the Crime Computer as soon as you learn them to narrow down the list.
- If a witness says they didn’t see anyone or provides no clues, you have traveled to the wrong city. Backtrack to your previous location and try a different lead.
