Game description:

Wayne Gretzky’s 3D Hockey is a fast-paced, arcade-style sports game released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Trading realistic simulation for pure action, this hockey title focuses on intense 3-on-3 matches, exaggerated physics, and spectacular visuals where high-speed shots can literally set the net on fire. With no offsides or penalties and massive body checks encouraged, it brings the loud, high-scoring thrill of arcade sports directly to the console.

How to Play

The objective is to outscore the opposing team before the clock runs out. In the browser, the standard N64 controls are typically mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move your players, X or C to pass and switch players, and Z to shoot or throw a body check. You can also use the Shift or Enter keys for turbo boosts to outskate your opponents on breakaways.

Tips

  • Use turbo strategically: Your turbo meter depletes quickly. Save it for setting up breakaways or catching up on defense when the opponent has an open lane.
  • Aim your shots: When shooting close to the net, push the directional input toward the corners to slip the puck past the goalie.
  • Play aggressively: Since there are no penalties in arcade mode, constantly checking the opposing team is the best way to force turnovers and gain possession.
