Game description:

Warehouse No. 18 (also known as Storehouse No. 18) is an unlicensed puzzle game developed by Russian programmer A. Chudov in 1997 for the Dendy, a popular NES clone console. Functioning as a faithful Sokoban clone, this title challenges players to navigate a maze-like industrial facility. Due to its origins in the 1990s Russian Famiclone scene, it remained relatively obscure outside of Russia until it was preserved and translated by the retro gaming community. It notably features a built-in level editor and repurposes background music from the official NES game Lunar Pool.

How to Play

Your objective is to control the warehouse keeper and push all the scattered boxes onto their designated storage spots to clear the level. You can only push one box at a time, and you cannot pull them, so careful planning is required to avoid trapping boxes against walls or corners. Use the Arrow keys (D-pad) to move your character around the warehouse. Press Enter (Start) to pause the game, and use Z or X (A/B buttons) to navigate menus or interact with the level editor.

Tips

  • Survey the room: Always examine the entire warehouse layout before making your first move. Identifying choke points and tight corners early will prevent you from accidentally boxing yourself in.
  • Work backwards: Figuring out the last few moves to get a box onto its destination spot can often make the correct path from its starting position much clearer.
  • Avoid the walls: Never push a box against a flat wall or into a corner unless its final destination is located there, as you will permanently lose the ability to pull it back out.
