War Gods is a 3D fighting game released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Developed by Eurocom and published by Midway, it brings the arcade fighter’s digitized actors and brutal combat to the home console. Similar to the Mortal Kombat series, players choose from a roster of unique fighters, each with their own special moves, combos, and gruesome finishing fatalities as they battle to claim the Ore, a powerful cosmic artifact.
How to play
The objective is to deplete your opponent’s health bar across two out of three rounds to win the match. The game features a 3D evade button that allows fighters to sidestep attacks, adding an extra layer of depth to the standard strikes and special moves.
Default Nintendo 64 controls are used. In your browser, movement is mapped to the Arrow keys, action buttons (A, B, C-buttons) are mapped to Z, X, A, S, Q, and W, and Start is Enter.
Tips
- Take advantage of the 3D evade button to dodge projectiles and counterattack your opponent from the side.
- Each character has a unique finishing move (Fatality) that can be executed when the opponent’s health is depleted in the final winning round.
- Practice the universal combo system; stringing together basic high and low attacks can quickly turn the tide of a match.
