Unirally (also known as Uniracers in North America) is a fast-paced 2D racing and stunt game released for the SNES in 1994 by DMA Design. Instead of traditional vehicles, you control a riderless, anthropomorphic unicycle across colourful, side-scrolling tracks. The gameplay is famously frantic, focusing heavily on maintaining momentum by chaining together flips, twists, and rolls in mid-air to gain speed boosts.
How to Play
The objective varies by track: race against an opponent to the finish line, or earn a target score within a time limit on a dedicated stunt course. Standard SNES controls apply: use the D-pad (mapped to arrow keys) to accelerate and balance, the action buttons (Z, X, A, S in the browser) to jump and flip, and the shoulder buttons (Q, W) to perform twists. Press Start (Enter) to pause.
Tips
- Stick the landing: Always try to land with your unicycle perfectly upright. A bad landing will instantly kill your momentum and let your opponent pass you.
- Favour safe stunts in races: Quick, simple tricks like single flips give you small speed boosts and are much safer during tight races than attempting complex maneuvers that risk a crash.
- Learn the track layout: The stunt tracks are fixed; learning where the biggest jumps are allows you to pull off massive, multi-rotational tricks for the highest scores.
