Tutankham is a 1982 action game developed by Konami, originally released as an arcade title and brought to the Atari 2600 by Parker Brothers. Players move through the maze-like corridors of an Egyptian pharaoh’s tomb, collecting keys to unlock doors between chambers while fighting off snakes, birds, and other enemies.
How to Play
Explore each chamber with the arrow keys and collect every key before attempting the locked door at the far end. Press Spacebar to fire — the critical limitation is that shots only travel horizontally: left or right based on the direction you last moved, never up or down. Positioning yourself on the same row as an enemy before firing is the central skill of the game. Del enables rapid fire. Use F11 (Select) to change game options, F12 to reset, and Alt+P to pause.
Tips
- You cannot fire up or down. Always align horizontally with an enemy before shooting — rushing a corridor without adjusting your position loses lives quickly.
- Move deliberately through each room. A lot of damage comes from walking into an enemy that happens to be in a blind spot for your current firing angle.
- Collect every key before advancing. Missing one means backtracking through enemies you have already disturbed.
