Developed by Konami in 1987, Top Gun brings the intense dogfighting of the blockbuster film to the NES. Played from a first-person cockpit perspective, this action-flight simulator tasks you with piloting an F-14 Tomcat through four rigorous missions, balancing fuel consumption, missile locks, and enemy fire across both air and sea engagements.
How to play
You must survive waves of enemy aircraft and successfully land on an aircraft carrier at the end of each mission. Manage your altitude and speed carefully, especially during refueling and landing sequences which require precise alignment.

Tips
- Carrier Landings: When prompted to land, match the target speed and altitude precisely. Pay close attention to the dashboard indicatorsโif it says “Up! Up!”, pitch up immediately.
- Missile Management: You have a limited supply of missiles. Save them for the boss targets at the end of missions, relying on your standard machine gun for regular dogfights.
- Refueling: During mid-air refueling, keep your nose perfectly steady and match the tanker’s speed to connect.
