Top Gear is a classic 16-bit arcade racing game developed by Gremlin Graphics and published by Kemco for the SNES in 1992. Famous for its blistering sense of speed, iconic soundtrack by Barry Leitch, and mandatory split-screen perspective, the game pits you against computer or human opponents across tracks around the world. You must manage a limited number of nitro boosts and make strategic pit stops to refuel during longer endurance races.
How to Play
Your objective in championship mode is to finish in the top five to qualify for the next track. Keep an eye on your fuel gaugeโrunning out of gas will disqualify you, so be sure to pull into the pit lane to refuel on longer races.

Tips
- Choose your car wisely: The four available cars vary in top speed, acceleration, tire grip, and fuel consumption. For example, the Cannibal (red car) is fast but guzzles fuel, requiring more frequent pit stops.
- Drafting: Drive directly behind opponent cars to slipstream. This reduces air resistance and gives you a noticeable speed boost to sling-shot past them.
- Block opponents: The AI will aggressively try to pass you. Weave in front of them to block their path, which forces them to slow down and bump your rear, giving you a slight push forward.
