Toki Tori is a classic puzzle-platformer developed by Two Tribes and released for the Game Boy Color in 2001. As a heroic little chick, you must navigate a series of intricate levels to rescue your unhatched siblings. Instead of relying on traditional platforming mechanics like jumping, you are armed with a limited inventory of toolsโsuch as bridges, telewarps, and the freeze-o-maticโto outsmart enemies and bypass obstacles.
How to Play
Your objective is to collect every egg in the stage. Since you cannot jump, you must carefully plan your route using only the tools provided. Use the D-pad (mapped to your keyboard's arrow keys) to move Toki Tori. Press the A button (Z key) to use your equipped item, and the B button (X key) to cycle through your available tool inventory. Use Start (Enter) to pause the game or restart if you make a mistake.
Tips
- Look before you move: You often cannot backtrack if you drop down a ledge. Take time to survey the entire level and plan your path before executing it.
- Ice blocks: The freeze-o-matic turns enemies into solid blocks of ice. You can walk on top of them to reach higher areas, but be quick, as they will eventually thaw.
- Conserve your tools: You are given the exact number of items needed to clear a stage. If you misplace a bridge or waste a telewarp, you will need to restart the level.
