Time Twist: Rekishi no Katasumi de… – Kouhen (On the Outskirts of History – Part 2) is the concluding half of a text-based adventure game developed by Pax Softnica and published by Nintendo in 1991 for the Famicom Disk System. Never officially released outside of Japan due to its dark and mature themes, the story follows a protagonist whose soul has been separated from his body by a demon. In this second chapter, players continue time-traveling and possessing different historical figures to stop the demon and reclaim their physical form.
As a classic menu-driven adventure, gameplay relies on selecting commands to investigate your surroundings and speak with characters. Because the game remains entirely in Japanese, navigating the story without knowing the language requires patience and trial and error in the menus. Play using the standard NES controls in your browser: use the Arrow keys to navigate the command list, press Z or X to confirm and cancel actions, use Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.
When you find yourself stuck, try speaking to the same character multiple times, as new dialogue options often reveal themselves only after exhausting earlier conversations. Be sure to re-examine key locations in each historical era as well, since interacting with certain objects may trigger the next sequence of events.
