Released by Tecmo in 1995, Tecmo Super Bowl III: Final Edition is a classic American football game and the last installment in the legendary series for the Super Nintendo. Building upon the fast-paced, arcade-style action of its predecessors, it features the official NFL license alongside major additions to the franchise, such as an expanded playbook and a full player creation suite.
How to play
Take control of real NFL teams from the 1995 season and compete across exhibitions, a full regular season, or the playoffs to reach the Super Bowl. Playcalling is split between rushing and passing, with execution relying on quick reflexes and anticipating your opponent’s formations.
The SNES controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys (D-pad) to steer your players, press Z or X (A and B buttons) to snap the ball, pass, or tackle, and cycle through your receivers with A and S (X and Y buttons). Pause or call timeouts using Enter (Start) and Shift (Select).
Tips
- Master the dive: Timing your dives correctly on defense is the most effective way to tackle evasive ball carriers before they break away.
- Vary your playbook: The AI will eventually catch on to repeated play calls. Mix up your runs and passes, and use the expanded playbook to keep the defense guessing.
- Watch receiver coverage: When passing, look for the receiver who has successfully created separation rather than forcing a throw to your primary read.
