Takahashi Meijin no Bouken Jima (known internationally as Adventure Island) is a classic 1986 action platformer developed by Hudson Soft for the NES. You guide Master Higgins through a series of challenging tropical stages, throwing stone axes at enemies and leaping over perilous gaps while constantly managing a depleting vitality gauge.
How to Play
The goal is to reach the end of each stage before your vitality runs out or you lose all your lives. Eat fruit scattered throughout the levels to replenish your vitality gauge. Grab eggs to find power-ups like the stone axe, a skateboard for faster movement, or invincibility fairies.
- Move: Arrow Keys
- Jump: X
- Attack/Run: Z (Hold Z while moving to sprint)
- Start: Enter
- Select: Shift
Tips
- Your vitality gauge acts as a timer; do not dawdle, and collect every piece of fruit you see.
- When you ride the skateboard, you can take one hit without dying, but you will lose the board. Use this to your advantage in tricky sections.
- Tripping on rocks drains your vitality, so always jump over them even if there are no enemies around.
