Super Widget is a vibrant 2D action-platformer developed by Atlus and released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. Based on the animated series Widget the World Watcher, players control the titular shape-shifting alien as he travels across diverse environments like Blue Beach and the Moon. Instead of standard attacks, the core gameplay revolves around collecting tokens to transform into unique formsโincluding a submarine, a spring, or a skateboardโeach granting different movement abilities and offensive powers.
How to play
The objective is to navigate through each level, utilize your transformations to overcome obstacles and enemies, and defeat the boss waiting at the end of every world. In the browser, the default SNES controls are the arrow keys for movement, Z and X for jumping and attacking, and Enter and Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
- Collect “W” coins scattered throughout the stages; grabbing 100 of them will reward you with an extra life.
- Pick up multiple power-up tokens of the same letter to upgrade that specific transformation, making it more powerful.
- Taking damage while transformed reverts you back to your normal state. If you get hit in your natural purple alien form, you will lose a life, so try to stay transformed as much as possible.
