Game description:

Super Mario Bros. Maker is a 2024 homebrew platformer and level editor release for the Super Nintendo (SNES), developed by the ROM hacker infidelity. Rather than a traditional hack, this custom port of the original NES classic incorporates a fully functional level editor directly into the game, allowing players to build and play their own Super Mario Bros. stages right in the browser.

How to Play

Use the standard SNES controls to navigate: the D-pad (arrow keys) to move, Y (A key) to run, and B (Z key) to jump. To access the built-in Maker mode and begin designing your own courses, press the X (S key) button at the start of a game. From there, you can select, copy, and paste blocks and level elements directly onto the screen.

Tips

  • Since this release is a beta, focus on designing terrain and platforming challenges, as advanced enemy and sprite editing are not fully supported yet.
  • If your emulator setup supports mapping an SNES mouse to the second controller port, you can use it for faster and more precise block placement in the editor.
