Developed by Rare and released in 1990 for the NES, Super Glove Ball is a futuristic 3D take on the classic block-breaking genre. Originally designed as one of the few titles to showcase the Nintendo Power Glove peripheral, the game places you in a three-dimensional maze where you must bounce energy balls to destroy tiles and defeat enemies. Despite its history with the motion controller, it plays smoothly with a standard gamepad, offering a deep and challenging paddle-style experience.
How to Play
Your objective is to guide a glowing glove across the screen, deflecting balls to destroy the panels lining the walls of each dimensional room. Clearing all the targeted tiles opens the exit to the next level. Use the Arrow Keys to move the glove around the screen. Press Z or X to throw a held ball or interact with power-ups, and use Enter to pause the game.
Tips
- Watch the shadow of the ball on the walls to judge its depth and intercept it before it slips past your glove.
- You can catch the ball instead of just deflecting it; use this to carefully line up your next throw at hard-to-reach tiles.
- Prioritise destroying the enemy robots that spawn, as they will alter the ball’s trajectory and make it much harder to track.
