Game description:

Super Fire Pro Wrestling X is a 1995 professional wrestling game for the SNES that defined the technical wrestling genre. Rather than focusing on arcade-style action, this Japan-exclusive release emphasizes timing, strategy, and stamina management. It features a massive roster of over 80 playable wrestlers based on real-life legends, and it introduces one of the earliest and most in-depth create-a-wrestler modes seen in the genre.

How to play

The objective is to win matches through pinfalls, submissions, or count-outs from an isometric ring perspective. Unlike button-mashing wrestling games, grappling requires precise timing: you must input your attack at the exact moment the wrestlers lock up. To play in your browser, use the standard SNES controls mapped to your keyboard: the arrow keys for the D-pad to move, Z/X/A/S for the face buttons (A/B/X/Y) to strike and grapple, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.

Tips

  • Pay close attention to the animation frame when wrestlers lock hands to know the exact moment to enter your grapple command.
  • Start matches with weak attacks to wear down your opponent’s stamina before attempting strong grapples, otherwise your moves will be easily reversed.
  • Manage your own stamina carefully by taking moments to breathe; becoming exhausted leaves you completely vulnerable to submissions.
