Supaplex is a classic 1991 DOS puzzle-action game developed by Michael Stopp and Philip Jespersen, and published by Digital Integration. Strongly inspired by Boulder Dash, the game swaps dirt caves and diamonds for the intricate innards of a computer system. You control Murphy, a red bug-hunter, navigating motherboards to collect colorful Infotrons while avoiding falling Zonks (steel spheres) and rogue scissors.
How to play
Your objective in each of the game’s 111 levels is to collect a required number of Infotrons and reach the exit safely. Move Murphy using the arrow keys. You can hold the Spacebar and press an arrow key to interact with an adjacent squareโsuch as eating a base piece or collecting an Infotronโwithout actually moving into that space.
Tips
- Gravity is a core mechanic. Zonks and Infotrons will fall if unsupported and will roll off the edges of other rounded objects, which you can use to crush enemies.
- Take your time to plan your route. Supaplex relies on logic and observation rather than strict time limits, and a careless move can easily trap you or block a critical path.
- You can safely push a single Zonk horizontally if there is an empty space behind it, but they cannot be pulled.
