Game description:

Strikers 1945 is a defining vertical shoot ’em up released for the Arcade in 1995 by Psikyo. Set in an alternate history following World War II, you pilot classic fighter planes against the C.A.N.Y. organization, a rogue military force using advanced transforming mecha weaponry. Known for its blistering pace and tight hitboxes, it established the fast, bullet-heavy style that Psikyo would become famous for.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive the waves of enemy fire, collect power-ups, and destroy the transforming boss at the end of each stage. For Arcade games in the browser, insert a virtual coin using Shift, and press Enter to start. Use the Arrow Keys to maneuver your plane. Press Z to fire your primary weapon (hold to unleash your plane’s unique charge attack) and press X to deploy a screen-clearing bomb when overwhelmed.

Tips

  • Master the charge attack: Each plane has a distinct charge move, like the P-38’s homing missiles, which is vital for dealing high damage to larger enemies quickly.
  • Watch for transformations: Bosses typically have multiple phases, shifting from traditional vehicles into massive mechas with dense bullet patterns.
  • Bombs for survival: Do not hoard your bombs. Using one gives you momentary invincibility, which is crucial for slipping through impossible bullet spreads.
