Strider is a side-scrolling action-platformer developed by Tiertex and published by Sega for the Sega Master System in 1991. Based on Capcom’s acclaimed arcade title, this 8-bit port tasks you with guiding the futuristic ninja Hiryu through the perilous metropolis of Kazakh. Armed with the deadly Cypher plasma sword, you must jump, slash, and climb your way through hordes of enemies to take down the evil Grandmaster Meio.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage and defeat the boss while surviving enemy attacks and environmental hazards. Use the D-pad (arrow keys) to run, duck, and scale walls or ceilings. Press Button 1 to attack with your Cypher sword and Button 2 to jump (mapped to Z and X in the browser). Master Hiryu’s wall-climbing and acrobatic flips to navigate the game’s challenging layouts.
Tips
- Your Cypher sword has a short reach initially, so focus on collecting robotic power-ups to extend its slash radius.
- When clinging to ceilings or walls, you can still attack freely, which is crucial for safely dispatching enemies before moving forward.
