Game description:

Developed by Capcom in 1996, Street Fighter Alpha 2 is a defining 2D fighting game that pushed the 16-bit SNES hardware to its absolute limits. Utilizing a specialized decompression chip, it delivers a massive roster, fluid animation, and complex mechanics like Alpha Counters and Custom Combos directly from the arcade original. Players face off in fast-paced, highly technical one-on-one martial arts battles where spacing and timing matter far more than button mashing.

How to play

Win two rounds by depleting your opponent’s health bar using standard attacks, special moves, and Super Combos. Build your super meter at the bottom of the screen by performing attacks and taking damage, then spend it on powerful EX moves or Custom Combos.

Tips

  • Use Alpha Counters: While blocking an attack, press back-to-forward and a punch or kick of the same strength to counterattack, spending one level of your super meter to escape pressure.
  • Manage your meter: You don’t have to save up for a level 3 Super. Using level 1 Supers or Alpha Counters frequently can often keep you safer and disrupt your opponent’s rhythm.
  • Expect the pause: Because of the intense hardware demands on the SNES, there is a brief, noticeable pause right before the announcer shouts “Fight!” at the start of a round. Wait for it to pass before executing your opening move.
