Developed by Beam Software and released for the NES in 1991, Star Wars is an action-platformer that loosely follows the events of A New Hope. Players take control of Luke Skywalker as he navigates side-scrolling stages on Tatooine, rescues R2-D2 from the Sandcrawler, and ultimately pilots an X-Wing in a first-person Death Star trench run. The adventure mixes traditional platforming with vehicle segments and top-down exploration.
How to Play
Your objective is to survive the various platforming and vehicle sequences to destroy the Death Star. In your browser, use the Arrow keys (D-pad) to move, Z (A button) to jump, and X (B button) to shoot your blaster or swing your lightsaber. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Use your lightsaber to deflect blaster fire back at enemies, which is often safer than trying to dodge in tight spaces.
- Explore the Tatooine caves carefully to find hidden shields and extra lives before taking on the Sandcrawler.
- During the Millennium Falcon asteroid sequence, focus on dodging the larger, faster-moving obstacles rather than trying to shoot everything on screen.
