Spy vs Spy is a 1984 action-strategy game developed by First Star Software for the NES, based on the classic MAD Magazine comic strip. Playing as either the White Spy or Black Spy in a split-screen view, you must search the rooms of an embassy to find four secret itemsโmoney, a passport, a key, and secret plansโstash them in a briefcase, and escape before the timer runs out, all while setting deadly traps for your rival.
How to play
The objective is to collect all four items in the briefcase and exit through the airport door before your opponent does. You can place traps in furniture and behind doors to eliminate the other spy, which deducts time from their clock. Use your trap menu to select traps to place.

Tips
- Keep track of which tools counter which traps: the umbrella blocks a bucket of water, wire cutters disarm a bomb, and the toolkit neutralizes a spring.
- You can only carry one item at a time unless you hold the briefcase, which allows you to carry all four items required to win.
- Hand-to-hand combat is risky; setting a trap on the door your opponent is about to walk through is much safer and more efficient.
