Soccer Kid (Japan) (Beta) is a 1993 platformer for the SNES developed by Krisalis Software. Heavily inspired by classics like Sonic and Mario, this prototype puts a unique spin on the genre by giving you a football to control. As the titular hero, you must travel across the world to recover the scattered pieces of the World Cup, which were stolen by an alien pirate named Scab.
How to Play
Your goal is to navigate through various countries, defeating enemies and overcoming obstacles using your soccer ball. You can shoot the ball, juggle it, or even perform headers and bicycle kicks. In the browser, the SNES controls map the D-pad to the arrow keys for movement. Use the face buttons (mapped to Z, X, A, S) to jump and manipulate the ball. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
Mastering your ball control is essential for progression. You can jump onto the ball to use it as a stepping stone, granting you extra height to reach hidden areas and collect items. If you ever lose your ball or it gets kicked off-screen, wait a moment or explore nearby to find a replacementโyour character is virtually defenseless without it!
