Snoopy Tennis (USA) is the North American release of this Game Boy Color tennis game, which brought Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang to the court starting in April 2001. Developed by Mermaid Studios and published by Infogrames, it was the first Peanuts video game released after Charles M. Schulz’s death in 2000, and it leans toward fast, cartoon-flavored arcade tennis rather than a straight simulation, mixing power-ups and oddball rules in alongside standard matches.
How to play
Choose from eight starting characters โ Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Franklin, Sally, Peppermint Patty and Schroeder โ with four more (Pigpen, Marcie, Rerun and Woodstock) to unlock by working through the game’s courts, which include a forest clearing, the beach, the schoolyard and Charlie Brown’s own backyard. Beyond standard best-of-three or best-of-five sets, modes include Sudden Win, Point Race, a Power-Up special mode, a Squash variant, and two-player matches over a Game Link cable. In the browser, the Game Boy Color’s D-pad maps to the arrow keys, the A and B buttons map to Z and X, and Start and Select map to Enter and Shift.
