Game description:

Released in 1990 for the NES, Snake’s Revenge is a stealth-action game developed by Konami. Created specifically for the Western market as an unofficial sequel to the original Metal Gear, the game follows Lt. Solid Snake and his Fox Hound operatives as they infiltrate a hostile nation to destroy a new Metal Gear prototype. Blending traditional top-down stealth sections with side-scrolling combat areas, it offers a distinct, action-heavy take on the classic espionage formula.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate the enemy stronghold, rescue hostages, gather weapons and keycards, and ultimately destroy the superweapon. Avoid the vision cones of guards and use stealth to your advantage. The default NES controls apply: use the D-pad (arrow keys) to move and navigate menus, while the A and B buttons (mapped to Z and X on your keyboard) are used for attacking and utilizing your inventory. Press Start (Enter) to pause or access the radio and sub-screen.

Tips

  • Rescuing hostages is crucial for increasing your maximum health and rank, which allows you to carry more items.
  • Use your combat knife for silent takedowns to avoid triggering enemy alerts and calling reinforcements.
  • Don’t forget to regularly check your radio frequencies for important hints from your support team.
