Game description:

Silva Saga is a fantasy role-playing game Seta released for the Famicom in Japan in 1992, playable here in Aishsha’s English fan translation. It’s the second entry in the Minelvaton trilogy, following Minelvaton Saga, and borrows its structure directly from Dragon Quest: overhead town and dungeon maps, wandering monster encounters, and turn-based battles seen from a first-person view against the enemy party.

How to play

You play the grandson of the original Light Warrior, sent to the land of Pantheon on a trial to earn that title for yourself. The quest is to track down the sealed Light Warrior armaments and deliver them to the gods so you can be reforged as the new Light Warrior and bring down the dark god Zuhl.

Controls follow standard NES conventions: arrow keys move your character and navigate menus, Z acts as the A button (confirm/attack), X acts as B (cancel/run), Enter is Start, and Shift is Select.

Tips

  • Push to get the early low-cost healing spell as soon as it’s available — it lets you clear most of the starting continent without much grinding.
  • Because this is Aishsha’s translation patch, all dialogue and menus are in English even though Silva Saga was never officially released outside Japan.
