Shufflepuck Cafe is an intergalactic air hockey game released for the NES in 1990. Ported from the computer original, this fast-paced sports title pits you against a bizarre cast of alien opponents, each with their own unique playstyle, paddle size, and special physics-bending moves. You play as a stranded Earthling who must defeat characters like a war pig, a martian, and a mysterious reaper to become the undisputed champion of the seedy sci-fi café.
The objective is to be the first to score 15 points in each match by slamming the puck past your opponent's defenses. You move your paddle across your side of the table using the D-pad (mapped to the Arrow keys in your browser). The A button (Z key) serves the puck and can also trigger character-specific power shots when timed correctly during a rally.
Pay close attention to your current opponent's behavior, as each alien relies on distinct patterns and weaknesses. Utilizing angled shots that rapidly ricochet off the side walls is often the best way to outmaneuver the later, much faster competitors.
