Shootin’ Gallery is a carnival-style shooter programmed by Dennis Koble and released by Imagic for the Atari 2600 in 1983. Players manage a limited supply of ammunition while aiming at moving toys like kangaroos, rabbits, and train cars. Despite being marketed toward a younger audience at the time, it offers a surprising level of challenge and variety as the targets change their movement patterns across different rounds.
How to play
The objective is to score as many points as possible by hitting the moving targets before your bullets run out. Move your crosshair using the arrow keys and fire with the Spacebar. Keep a close eye out for the cuckoo clock that occasionally appears; it will try to steal your ammunition, so shoot it quickly to protect your supply.
Tips
- Prioritize taking out the cuckoo clock as soon as it appears to prevent it from draining your precious bullets.
- During the train rounds, try to shoot the individual train cars in sequence to earn bonus points.
