Secret Ties is a lost action-platformer for the NES, originally developed in 1992 as an English localization of the Japanese Famicom game Kaitou Sugar. Though completed, it went unreleased and survives only as a fully playable prototype. You play as a professional thief named Silk, tasked with navigating six levels of Ninja Gaiden-style platforming to retrieve ancient artifacts and rescue your kidnapped girlfriend.
How to Play
As an unreleased action game, the controls follow classic 8-bit platforming conventions. Use the D-pad (arrow keys) to move and climb walls, press A (Z key) to jump, and B (X key) to attack enemies. Mastering your wall-climbing and sliding abilities is essential to traversing the game’s levels and overcoming obstacles.
Tips
- Use the Debug Menu: Because this is a prototype build, you can access a hidden debug menu by pressing Select (Shift key) on the title screen. This allows you to choose your starting level, test sounds, or enable invincibility.
- Master the Wall Climb: Like many ninja-style games of the era, learning how to quickly attach to and jump off walls is key to avoiding enemy damage.
