Game description:

Samurai Sword is a menu-driven adventure game developed by Capcom and released for the Famicom Disk System in 1988. Despite what the title might suggest, it is not a traditional action or platforming game. Instead, players guide a warrior on a quest to defeat the dark priest Solon through a series of text-based commands, exploring locations, talking to NPCs, and solving puzzles in a fantasy setting.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate the world and overcome obstacles by selecting the correct actions from a command menu. Battles are resolved not through real-time combat, but by choosing the right spells or attacks from your list of options. In the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move through the menus, Z (mapped to the A button) to confirm your choices, and X (mapped to the B button) to cancel.

Tips

  • Combat requires strategy rather than reflexes. Take your time to read through your available spells and commands to find the most effective approach against different enemies.
  • Talk to every NPC you encounter. Information is your most valuable resource, and character dialogue often contains the hints necessary to solve environmental puzzles.
