Rolling Thunder is a classic run-and-gun arcade action game released by Namco in 1986. Taking control of Albatross, an elite agent of the WCPO, players must infiltrate the secret underground base of the terrorist organization Geldra to rescue a captured partner, Leila. This particular release represents the oldest arcade revision of the game.
How to play
Navigate through multi-tiered, side-scrolling levels by shooting hostile Maskers and managing a limited ammunition supply. You can enter marked doors to restock on bullets or acquire a rapid-fire machine gun. By default, use the Arrow keys to move, Z to shoot, and X to jump (hold Up or Down while jumping to switch between the upper and lower walkways). Use Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start.
Tips
- Conserve Ammunition: Your bullets are strictly limited. Pay attention to doors marked with “BULLETS” or “ARMS” to resupply, and avoid firing wildly.
- Master the High Jump: Leaping between the upper and lower levels is essential. Use this vertical mobility to dodge enemy fire and bypass crowded areas.
- Use Doors to Hide: Stepping into an unmarked door makes you temporarily invincible. Wait inside to let dangerous waves of enemies pass before emerging to counterattack.
