Game description:

Rollerball is a classic pinball game developed by HAL Laboratory and released for the NES in 1988. Set against a massive, four-screen-tall vertical table known as “Skyscraper”, the game offers a surprisingly deep and fast-paced physics experience for the 8-bit era. It stands out with its engaging mechanics, including an animated slot machine, a multi-ball feature, and a two-player competitive mode.

How to play

The objective is to rack up the highest score possible by hitting bumpers, activating targets, and keeping the ball from draining at the bottom of the table. Use the D-pad to control the left flipper and the A or B buttons for the right flipper. Press Start to launch the ball. In your browser, these controls are mapped to the arrow keys (left flipper), Z or X (right flipper), and Enter (launch).

Tips

  • Focus on hitting the slot machine targets in the upper sections of the table to earn extra points and trigger the multi-ball mode.
  • Use controlled flips rather than wildly mashing the buttons; predicting the ball’s trajectory is crucial for keeping it in play on the fast lower screens.
