RoboWarrior is a 1987 action-shooter for the NES developed by Hudson Soft. Blending top-down run-and-gun combat with Bomberman-style puzzle mechanics, you play as the cyborg Z-Max on a mission to liberate the planet Altile. The gameplay requires you to carefully manage resources, blasting enemies with your gun while dropping bombs to destroy walls, clear paths, and uncover hidden items across varied planetary zones.
How to play
Your objective is to navigate to the end of each stage before your energy drains, defeating enemies and finding the key to open the exit. You must balance shooting enemies with using your limited supply of bombs to carve a path forward.
Use the arrow keys to move, Z to shoot, and X to drop bombs. Press Shift to cycle through your collected inventory items and Enter to use the selected item.
Tips
- Your energy meter constantly depletes and also serves as your health. Prioritize bombing blocks to uncover energy capsules so you can stay alive.
- Unlike Bomberman, you are not restricted to a grid. You can move freely, but be careful not to catch yourself in your own bomb blasts.
- Save your specialized inventory items for when you really need them. The Lamp is essential for surviving dark cave levels, while the Megaton Bomb clears massive blockages.
