Game description:

Robocco Wars is a 1991 NES action-platformer developed by Pixel that is now fully playable in English thanks to a fan translation. You play as Lance, a pilot who commands the transforming robot R-10 to battle an army of evil machines. The game uniquely splits its ten stages between traditional on-foot side-scrolling platforming and auto-scrolling shoot-’em-up segments where the R-10 transforms into vehicles like an airplane or submarine.

How to Play

Your goal is to clear each of the ten stages by defeating enemies and the boss at the end of the level. The game alternates between on-foot platforming and vehicle-based shooting. In the browser, the NES controls are mapped to your keyboard:

  • Movement: Arrow Keys
  • Jump: X
  • Shoot / Attack: Z
  • Start: Enter
  • Select: Shift

Tips

  • Adjust to the robot’s momentum during the on-foot segments, as the movement mechanics can feel slightly slippery, especially on ice terrain.
  • The difficulty is mostly forgiving early on, but prepare for a sharp spike in the final stage where quick reflexes are essential.
