Reactor is a unique physics-based action game released for the Atari 2600 by Parker Brothers in 1982. Instead of shooting, you pilot a ship inside an unstable nuclear reactor, using momentum to knock enemy particles into the deadly control rods before the core melts down.
How to Play
Your objective is to survive by bouncing enemies into the walls, avoiding touching them yourself as the core constantly expands. In this browser version, use the Arrow Keys to steer your ship and press the Spacebar to trigger a decoy that distracts enemies. For a second player, movement is mapped to T, G, F, H and the decoy to the A key. Press F11 to select your game mode and F12 to start or reset.
Tips
- Your ship’s movement is heavily based on inertia, so avoid building up too much speed when you are close to the edges.
- Place your decoy near the control rods to bait enemies into destroying themselves, which will also shrink the expanding core and give you more room.
