Game description:

Quiz Sekai wa SHOW by Shobai is a 1993 arcade quiz game developed and published by Taito for Japanese arcades only. It’s a direct tie-in to the Nippon TV variety-quiz show of the same name, which ran from 1988 to 1996: the broadcast framed itself as a “shop” hosted by a rotating “store manager” (Masataka Itsumi, then later Akira Fukusawa) alongside “head clerk” Masayuki Watanabe, and built its questions around real video reports on unusual jobs and businesses. The arcade cabinet brings that same trivia format to a buttons-only, up-to-4-player machine on Taito’s B System hardware.

How to Play

Up to four players compete by answering multiple-choice questions; there’s no joystick, just answer buttons per player. To play in the browser, use the Arrow keys to move between answer choices and the primary action buttons (typically Z, X, C, or V) to confirm your selection. Use 5 or Shift to insert coins, and 1 or Enter to start.

Tips

  • This is the original Japanese release, so every question and prompt is in Japanese. Without reading the language, you’ll be answering by trial and error rather than genuine trivia knowledge.
