Game description:

Prince of Persia for the SNES (1993) is an expanded and visually enhanced version of Jordan Mechner’s classic cinematic platformer. This 16-bit edition features completely redrawn graphics, a reimagined soundtrack, and 20 distinct levels, giving you an extended 120-minute time limit to navigate the Sultan’s deadly dungeons and rescue the Princess from the evil vizier Jaffar.

How to Play

Your objective is to reach the exit door of each level before the overarching time limit expires, surviving perilous drops, hidden spikes, and armed guards. Movement is deliberate and momentum-based. In the browser, use the Arrow keys to move, duck, and perform standing or running jumps. Press Z or X (mapped to the SNES face buttons) to carefully step forward, pick up potions, grab ledges, or draw your sword.

Tips

  • Always hold the step button when navigating near edges or spike pits. It prevents you from accidentally running off a ledge or into a trap.
  • In sword combat, patience is vital. Let the guard strike first, parry their attack, and immediately counter-strike while their guard is down.
  • Pay close attention to the ceiling and floor. Loose tiles can be knocked down to open new paths, or they might crumble beneath your feet.
