Game description:

Prehistorik Man is a comedic side-scrolling platformer developed by Titus for the SNES, released in Europe in 1996 as the third game in Titus’s Prehistorik series. You play as the caveman Sam, sent out by his village’s chief to recover the food supply after it’s stolen, journeying north toward the legendary dinosaurs’ graveyard to gather bones he can trade for enough food to survive the coming winter.

How to Play

The objective in each stage is to fight or dodge past dinosaurs and other prehistoric enemies while gathering food and bones, using Sam’s default weapon, a spiked club, along with spears and axes you can pick up along the way. Some stages add their own twist, including a hang glider for crossing wide gaps. You can use the standard SNES controls to play in your browser:

  • Move: Arrow keys
  • Jump / Attack: Z
  • Secondary action: X
  • Start/Pause: Enter
  • Select: Shift

Tips

  • Bones you collect from enemies and food pickups double as currency at in-game shops, so it’s worth fighting through a crowd rather than avoiding it when your stash is low.
  • Grab heart containers whenever you find them — they permanently raise your health, which makes the later, tougher stages much more forgiving.
  • Stone age shields scattered through the levels grant temporary invincibility; save them for the sections with the heaviest enemy traffic instead of using them the moment you find one.
