Phantom Fighter is an action-RPG hybrid released for the NES in 1990 by publisher FCI. Players take on the role of a martial artist traveling across eight distinct towns to battle hordes of Jiangshiโhopping Chinese vampiresโand free the region from their curse.
How to Play
The main objective is to clear all eight towns by defeating the Jiangshi bosses found in their local temples. Combat is a deliberate one-on-one affair where you must carefully space your attacks against hopping enemies. Play directly in your browser using the standard NES controls: use the Arrow Keys for movement, Z and X for kicking and punching (B and A), Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Visit the training dojos in each town to learn new techniques and upgrade your skills. Enemies become highly resilient in later stages, so maxing out your punch and kick strength early is crucial.
- Use the Talisman item to temporarily freeze the Jiangshi. Save these for the challenging boss encounters at the end of each level.
- Patience is essential during combat. Instead of button-mashing, observe the vampire’s hopping pattern and counterattack precisely when they land.
