Pesterminator is an unlicensed action-platformer developed by Color Dreams and released for the NES in 1990. Players control Kernel Kleanup, the real-world mascot of the Western Exterminator Company, on a mission to stop Ronnie the Super Rat. From houses and swamps to a final showdown on the moon, you must navigate side-scrolling levels and smash a variety of bugs and creatures to foil Ronnie’s pest beam.
How to Play
Your goal in each stage is to eliminate a specific quota of pests before you can proceed to the exit. Use the Arrow keys (D-pad) to move, the Z key (B button) to swing your hammer, and the X key (A button) to jump. You can press the Shift key (Select) to bring up a status report showing how many pests you still need to exterminate.
Tips
- Keep an eye on your pest quota; you cannot finish a level until you have squashed enough bugs.
- Your hammer has a short range, so time your swings carefully as enemies approach.
- In the final moon level, be prepared to search for a key card to access the boss’s lair.
