Developed by EIM and released in 1992 for the NES, Panic Restaurant is a quirky 2D platformer where you play as Chef Cookie on a quest to reclaim his stolen restaurant from the evil chef Ohdove (Hors d’Oeuvre) and an army of mutant food.
How to Play
You must navigate through various restaurant-themed stagesโfrom the appetizer section to the meat lockerโusing kitchen utensils to defeat hostile pizzas, carrots, and other aggressive ingredients. In the browser emulator, use the arrow keys to move, Z to jump (A button), X to attack with your frying pan (B button), Enter to pause (Start), and Shift for Select.
Tips
- You can upgrade your default frying pan by picking up new utensils; the giant spoon extends your reach, and the fork functions as a pogo stick to bounce on enemies.
- Look for candy and hearts hidden in pots or dropped by enemies to restore your health.
- Collect coins scattered across the stages to play a slot machine mini-game between levels for extra lives and points.
