Originally a 2007 hit on modern consoles, Pac-Man Championship Edition was officially reimagined as an authentic 8-bit NES demake in 2020. Developed by M2 for the Namco Museum Archives collection, this fast-paced arcade maze game pushes the retro hardware to its limits. It translates the intense time-attack gameplay, dynamically shifting mazes, and neon aesthetic of the original into a classic format.
How to Play
Your objective is to score as many points as possible before the time runs out. The maze is divided into two halves; clearing all dots on one side spawns a bonus item on the other, and eating that item completely redraws the cleared half of the maze with a new dot layout.
- Move: Arrow Keys
- Start/Pause: Enter
- Select: Shift
Tips
- Chain your ghosts: Don’t eat the power pellets immediately. Wake up sleeping ghosts by passing near them to build a long train, then grab a power pellet to eat them all in rapid succession for massive score multipliers.
- Corner tightly: When you press the next direction right before reaching an intersection, sparks will fly and you will turn instantly. This maintains your top speed and is absolutely essential for survival as the game gets faster.
