Pac-Land for the NES is a classic side-scrolling platformer developed by Namco and released in 1985. Predating many of the genre's most famous titles, the game follows Pac-Man on a vibrant quest to safely return a lost fairy to Fairyland. You'll navigate a variety of colorful environmentsโincluding bustling towns, dense forests, and tricky water hazardsโwhile dodging familiar ghost enemies like Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde.
How to play
Your objective is to reach the end of each trip to deliver the fairy, and then make the journey back home. Watch out for the ghosts, who will try to stop you by driving cars, dropping from trees, or flying in UFOs. For this browser-based NES emulator, the D-pad is mapped to the arrow keys, while the A and B buttons are mapped to the Z and X keys. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select. Note: Pac-Land uses an unusual control scheme where buttons are used to run and the D-pad is used to jump.
Tips
- Pick up the pace: Rapidly tapping the run button makes Pac-Man sprint, which is essential for jumping far enough to clear wide gaps and water pools.
- Find the Power Pellets: Keep an eye out for hidden Power Pellets. Grabbing one will temporarily turn the ghosts blue, allowing you to chomp them for bonus points.
