Developed by Probe Software and released in 1991 for the Sega Master System, Out Run Europa shifts the classic arcade driving formula into a high-stakes action chase. Instead of a leisurely scenic drive, you play as a fugitive speeding across Europe to escape enemy agents. The journey forces you to adapt on the fly, swapping from the signature red sports car to motorcycles, jet skis, and speedboats to outrun your pursuers and beat the clock.
How to Play
Your goal is to complete each stage before time expires while avoiding civilian traffic and fighting off enemy vehicles. Default Master System controls apply:
- D-Pad (Arrow keys): Steer left and right.
- Button 1 (Z): Accelerate, or attack when riding the motorcycle and jet ski.
- Button 2 (X): Brake.
- Pause (Enter): Pause the game.
Tips
- On the motorcycle and jet ski levels, preemptively attack enemies that pull up beside you before they can force you off the road.
- Crashing is incredibly punishing to your timer; it is always better to brake and lose a little speed than to hit a hazard and come to a complete stop.
- Pay attention to road splits, as mastering the fastest route through the branching map is key to finishing the game.
